I am shocked by how long it has been since I have posted to this blog. To be honest, I am not sure how many people still visit this blog on a regular basis. Either way, I feel like a lot of words are going to be coming my way soon. That is the big limiter to updating the blog. I need the words and the time. I can imagine others can relate to the time statement.
Well since July, change has been in the air. We have been preparing for our arrival of a baby boy whose due date was January 10th. There was a lot to do around the house and the arrival date continued to get closer and closer. We had to take a spare bedroom of six years and clean it out in preparation for the nursery. There was the decision of what type of bed Jonah was going to be transitioned to. What were we going to do about furniture. We picked out a paint color for the nursery and new curtains for the boys rooms. Jimmy and Kris customized the closet in the baby's room. The boys have nicer closets than we do.
Decisions were made and, Jonah is now sleeping on the double bed that was in the spare room. Kris picked out two pieces of unfinished furniture for Jonah's room that are perfect. Thank you to Gigi for staining the furniture as a present to us. A new comforter was chosen for Jonah that has dump trucks and bulldozers on it and the new curtains are perfect. Jonah loves his "dump truck bed". The baby's room was finished in time. We love the color of paint chosen and the curtains look great with the furniture we bought when Jonah was born.
The change has continued with Jonah over the past couple of months. One of the more important milestones for two year old is "Potty Training". It is something I thought about a lot and like to describe as waiting to enter the game of playing jump rope. Once you are in you are in. Jonah mentioned to Kris one day that he wanted underwear. It was this week that I decided to potty train over the weekend. We went cold turkey. He woke up on Saturday, got to wear pajamas all day with no diaper, pull up or underwear. That day we had 5 accidents. Sunday there were 3 accidents and then it was time to send him to school. It was a short week of Thanksgiving and he had accidents each day including when he was with Kris and I over the holiday. Then on that Sunday, the light bulb came on and he was starting to go to the bathroom by his self. The teacher claimed he was potty trained by the end of the week and he rarely has accidents since then. We are blessed to have chosen the right time to potty train.
By the way, Jonah loves his underwear.
So much change with the house and with Jonah. With each transition I was worried about how Jonah would handle the change. He has been wonderful each time. The transition to a big boy bed went well and his potty training is going great too.
All of this change in the air was tougher on the parents than Jonah. All of this change was in preparation of expecting our newest addition to the family....Baby Brother Eli.
