Easter Sunday 2009At this time last year, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy. My due date was May 8th, so it was possible for Jonah to arrive just in time for Mother's Day 2008. Little did I know at the time, that Jonah was going to wait until May 14th to make his debut. Over the past year I have been able to enjoy the greatest gift ever, parenthood. As the first year of parenthood comes to an end, I am able to look back on many scares, tests of faith, greatest rewards, lessons learned, laughs shared, great memories and heartwarming moments. Being a mother means having unconditional love for your child, teaching him everything you can, enjoying every moment and soaking it all in in hopes of retaining every minute.
What have I learned as a mother of one year:
Somehow you can get through a full day of work on 2 - 4 hours of sleep
I love watching my little boy sleep
You can still love your son right after he has vomited all over you
You can never wash your hands enough
The book, babywise was the best read ever
Schedules do work and provide structure for a happy baby
Being a parent is the most rewarding job you could have
Night time routine is the best
A child can entertain a crowd of adults all night long
One of the best gifts is watching your son take his first series of steps
A child's laughter is the best medicine
A new mother can survive the first time her son gets a busted lip
How to appreciate everything my parents did for me growing up
That Kris and I make a great team
It has been a great, challenging, tiring, but worth every minute kind of year. I absolutely love being a mother and know I was born to do this.
Happy Mother's Day to All!!
