Kris, Jonah and I packed up the truck and headed to Topsail Island on Saturday. I wondered how much we were going to end up packing for the baby on our first road trip. Surprisingly enough, Kris and I feel like we did pretty good packing for the little one. We had some help from the Grandparents because they already had a crib ready. Kris's older brother brought a bouncy seat for Jonah that they are not using anymore. We managed to pack all of Jonah's clothes in his diaper bag and then carried the formula and bottles in another container.
For those of you that are parents, do you remember the first time you took a road trip with your new baby? Well I am hoping most of you felt the same way I did. I was anxious and nervous about being away from home. As almost all children, my son likes to get fussy around the 5:00 hour and could remain fussy until he goes to bed for the evening. Well having a fussy baby in a surrounding that is not home with the rest of your family around was kind of stressful for me. Gayle, Jimmy, Jayme and Dana were fine with fussy Jonah, but Kris and Kelly were not (especially Kelly). The family continued to let us know that Jonah was not bothering them and I know they were telling the truth. Because this was our child we continued to worry about how fussy he was (mostly me). Needless to say, we made it through what I call "The Meltdown Period" of the day. It was nice to visit with family and Jonah was excited about meeting his aunts, uncles and cousins.
I had hoped to get the baby to the beach this weekend, but it was extremely hot and I was extremely exhausted during the early hours of the morning. Kris and I are looking forward to beach week in July and can not wait to get good pictures of the family on the beach during this time.
Jonah says Hello and mentioned he already misses his family from the Grace and Swinson side. He is looking forward to visiting with everyone together during beach week.
