During the visit from the family, the nursery called for Kris and I to come by for a visit. They mentioned nothing was wrong, we just needed to visit. We go into the nursery, and begin to wash our hands. I hear Jonah's nurse yell "I think I might have something you have been wanting" My baby was out of his bed and being held by the nurse. I got to sit with my son for the first time and hold him today. I melted into the chairs and Jonah melted into me. It was the best gift anyone could give. Kris was able to love on him as well and take pictures of our little boy with no machines involved.
I thought I would be crying the whole time with tears of joy. Instead a relaxation took over my body that is hard to described. It felt like I had received a full body massage or been given a muscle relaxer. I was finally at peace for the first time this week. This peace created by our son released all of the tension from my body and allowed me to feel better about having to leave tonight. We met Jonah's nurse for the evening and she was super sweet. She reassured us that she would take good care of him. She also said that if everything goes well tonight, Jonah will be moved into a different room tomorrow and will be in a normal bed.
On the lords day to be celebrated, he has given Kris and I something to celebrate. I have heard from many of you that my family was put on prayer lists and was kept in individuals prayers this week. These prayers were answered today. He will still be in the special care nursery for several more days, but today was a Blessed Day! Kris and I thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers.
